This is a publication which is entirely devoted to African American Blues music and everything that comes with it. Living Blues is printed in the USA and is released on a bi-monthly basis. There are great news and events sections as well as fascinating interviews and in-depth overviews of the best old and new musicians and bands around. There are also very extensive review sections which offer an honest look at the best new music in the industry.

Living Blues is quite a slim publication but readers shouldn’t be put off by this because the content is excellent with brilliant photography and informative features, which will give any fan of the blues a much needed fix of their favourite singers and soulful tunes. It is well worth the money even though it looks deceptively slender.

There will regularly be brilliant radio charts which detail the American blues charts for each month of the year. Readers outside the US will find this chart fascinating, as we don’t have a blues charts as such in the UK, fans over this side of the pond can get a great insight into who is hot and who is not. Blues music is such a cool and soulful sound, anyone thinking about getting into the genre should have a read of Living Blues, it will give you a great idea of the lifestyle of the players and stories behind the music. If you love to listen to something a little bit different then Blues is definitely the way forward. It always sounds beautifully effortless but it extremely hard to recreate if you don’t know how.

Any budding Blues players who may be sitting at their computer feeling smug about their abilities, we challenge you to read the interviews with the best musicians around and not feel in awe of how incredibly cool and stylish they are. We have a suspicious feeling that it’s a prerequisite of Blues that the players have to look impossibly hip and stylish. You never see any scruffy looking outdated Blues players do you?
